You can renew by mail, but unless you have a life-or-death emergency, expect delays before receiving your passport and citizenship documents.

WHTI-compliant document when entering the United States. Visit the

Basic requirements
- A completed application form. Do not sign it ahead of time.
- Proof of citizenship: a certified copy of a birth certificate, previously issued U.S. Passport, Certificate of Naturalization, Certificate of Citizenship, etc.
- Valid current government-issued ID.
- Two identical passport photos: 2" x 2", taken recently, against a light background, front head and shoulder view, current depiction, no uniforms, headgear or dark glasses. Photos available at City Hall for a $15 fee.

Children under 18
- Must appear in person.
- Under 16 must have consent of both parents.
- Children 16 to 17 years of age must appear with at least one parent or guardian and present photo ID.
Time required
Routine service takes about eight weeks when no additional information is needed.
Expedited service is available at an extra cost and takes approximately three weeks.
Payment of fees
- Application Fee: payable to U.S. Department of State in the form of check, money order or cashier's check. Cash or credit cards are not accepted.
- Execution Fee: payable to City of Gresham in the form of cash, check, money order or cashier's check. Credit cards are not accepted.
