Police seeking witnesses to fatal hit-and-run in Gresham

11/2/25 Update: Crash investigators with the Gresham Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance locating a vehicle involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash. Just after midnight on December 7, Ryan Winchester was crossing NE Burnside Road near NE Cleveland Avenue when he was fatally struck by a passing vehicle. The driver did not stop. Winchester died at the scene. He leaves behind a wife and young children. 

Investigators have determined the vehicle that struck Winchester is a small gray hatchback. Investigators are releasing photos and video of the vehicle. 12/26/24: Police are looking for witnesses to a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred near NE Burnside Road and NE Cleveland Avenue in Gresham. The crash happened just after midnight on December 7. Ryan Winchester, a 50-year-old male, was crossing Burnside Road when he was struck by a passing vehicle. Winchester died at the scene. The driver who struck Winchester did not stop. The East County Vehicular Crimes Team was activated and responded to investigate the crash.

Gresham Police want to ensure they have interviewed all witnesses to the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Ryan Gomez at Ryan.Gomez@GreshamOregon.gov even if they have already spoken to another officer at the scene.
