Skills for the job

  • Interest and understanding of environmental protection, enhancement, water quality, pollution control and waste reduction.
  • Desire to work in both an office and in the field; work is typically split in both environments.
  • Ability to collect field data and samples.
  • Perform statistic analysis.
  • Manage projects both small and large.
  • Present educational information to the community, agencies and businesses.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Create good working relationships with other government agencies, contractors and employees. 

Education

Options are available from the high school and GED-diploma level through college degrees, including an associate or bachelor's degree.
