Utility Rates

  • Utility rates pay to operate the City's public water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure systems and the future replacement of those systems. Our goals are long-term quality service and affordable rates for customers. The City Council approves rates.

    Utility rate adjustments

Council passed a five-year rate schedule in 2017; the most recent increase was effective Jan. 1, 2021.

Typical residential utility bills increased by approximately $24.04 per bill for calendar year 2021.

Police, Fire and Parks Fee temporary increase

The City charges a Police, Fire and Parks fee to help maintain police jobs and keep our fire stations and parks open.

The fee increased from $7.50 per month to $15 per month on Jan. 1, 2021. The fee hadn't changed since its adoption in 2012, while costs to provide police, fire and parks services have grown. The per-unit fee in charged on utility bills to single-family households, multifamily property owners and businesses. The temporary fee increase is expected to raise $1.8 million in fiscal year 2020-21 (January to June), for a total of $5.7 million. All of this money goes toward paying for police, fire and parks; 95% is dedicated to police and fire, 5% to parks. The fee will raise $7.5 million when in place for the full fiscal year of June 2021 to July 2022.
