The Gresham Police Department is thrilled to unveil its innovative Police Transparency dashboard to the public. This milestone marks progress toward fostering open communication between law enforcement and the community.
"We are excited to launch this transparency dashboard as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance community trust,” said Gresham Police Chief Travis Gullberg. “Transparency is vital in building strong relationships between our officers and the community we serve. By providing access to this information, we aim to promote open dialogue and understanding."
Real-time access to data
The transparency dashboard is designed to provide residents with real-time access to critical information.
Key dashboard features include:
- Up-to-date crime and incident reporting. Stay informed about incidents and crime trends within Gresham. The dashboard offers data on crime and other incidents, ensuring residents are well-informed about safety in their neighborhoods.
- Workplace diversity Information. Embracing diversity and inclusivity, the dashboard offers insights into the demographic makeup of our Police department. Transparency in this aspect highlights our commitment to continuously develop a police force that reflects the diversity of our community.
- Use of force data. The dashboard includes comprehensive data on the use of force incidents, promoting accountability and facilitating informed conversations about policing practices.
This highlights the importance of crime reporting and the need for our community to continue to report incidents when they occur. Reporting crime is a way for our community to partner with law enforcement by giving the police a more comprehensive picture of our community’s safety needs.
By embracing technology and transparency, Gresham is taking a vital step toward fostering a safer, more united and trusting community.
Background
In 2022, the Police Department developed a long-term strategic plan that incorporates the recommendations from an independent BerryDunn organizational assessment while aligning with the City’s Strategic Plan.
The Public Safety Strategic Plan highlights four key themes: communication, community livability, operations, and staffing.
This dashboard is a tangible step in achieving the first goal under the operations theme, to leverage new technology to enhance the collection, analysis, and sharing of data and information to improve service delivery, accountability, and collaboration with the community for a safer Gresham.
