Senior Healthy Hikers - Progress Ridge Walk

Hiking during COVID-19 pandemic

  • All participants must wear facial masks and practice social distancing during Senior Healthy Hikers group events.
  • We will no longer carpool to the trailhead. Participants are responsible for their own transportation.
  • Driving directions (with the beginning point at Gresham City Hall) will be distributed at least three days prior to the event.

Hike details

  • Distance: 3.5 miles
  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Elevation gain: 265 feet
  • Trail conditions: Sidewalk, stairs, paved trails
  • Round-trip travel: Approximately 56 miles

This hike begins and ends at the New Seasons Market in the Progress Ridge Town Square. We will walk uphill from this boutique mall for some views of Mt. Hood before descending to tree-lined streets and the lake at the Murray Scholls Town Center. We will circle the lake and head uphill for a short break in the Town Center. After our break, we will explore Westside Linear Park and Barrows Park. From there we will head to Progress Lake Park and the stairway to the popular trout fishing area before climbing stairs to return to our cars.

There are no group lunch plans for this walk. You may dine out on your own at any of the restaurants at Progress Ridge or Murray Scholls Town Center. Progress Ridge restaurants include: Ava Roasteria, The Ridge Grill, Pho Nam, La Provence, Garden Bar, and Little Big Burger. Murray Scholls restaurant options include: Cafe Murrayhill, Juan Colorado, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Pizzicato Pizza, and Oasis Lebanese Cuisine.

Senior Healthy Hikers asks that participants be 50 or older. A couple wishing to hike is welcome if one member of the couple is 50 or better.

Pets are not permitted on our hikes or walks.
