    Karylinn Echols was re-elected to the Gresham City Council in the November 2012 election and was sworn into a four-year term on Jan. 8, 2013.

    Councilor Echols serves in the Council Position 3 seat beginning Jan. 18, 2011, after being unanimously appointed by Council to the vacant seat, and then elected by the public in May 2011 to continue in the position. She also served on Council from 2005 to 2007 after being elected to office.

    Councilor Echols was elected by the Council to serve as Council President for both 2012 and 2013 and was elected to the Vice Chair position of the Gresham Redevelopment Commission in 2016.

    Councilor Echols' current committee assignments include: Gresham Redevelopment Commission Advisory Board - Chair, Council Employee Subcommittee, Gresham Task Force on Homelessness, A Home for Everyone Executive Committee, Burnside Bridge Earthquake Ready, and the Regional Disaster Preparedness Organization's Policy Committee. She serves as an alternate on the Community Development and Housing Subcommittee and the Mt. Hood Cable Regulatory Commission.

    Her background includes work in the public, private, education, and non-profit sectors. She previously served as the executive director of the Healthcare Hospitality Network, Inc., a nationwide professional trade association.

    Councilor Echols holds a master’s degree in organizational management and a bachelor’s degree in political science. She is a former board member and officer of the Gresham Center for the Arts Foundation, and a former board member and president of MetroEast Community Media.

    Councilor Echols’ priorities include community livability, public safety, economic development, job growth and advancing Rockwood–West Gresham urban renewal.
