Google Fiber Project
Gresham in the Running for Ultra High-Speed Internet
Frustrated with slow internet connections? Google is currently looking for communities to test its ultra high-speed fiber network. We believe Gresham is an ideal location for Google to roll out its Google Fiber for Communities project.
"Imagine sitting with your doctor, streaming three-dimensional medical imaging over the web, and discussing a unique condition with a specialist in New York. Or downloading a high-definition, full-length feature film in less than five minutes. Or collaborating with classmates around the world while watching live 3D video of a university lecture. Universal, ultra high-speed internet access will make all this, and more, possible." |

Key Benefits
This project would have a broad-reaching, positive impact to the City, its residents, and local businesses, including:
- Robust connections for telecommuters, entrepreneurs, and all residents, including support for high-quality video streaming
- Strengthened educational programs and resources, from early learning through adult education
- Enhanced capabilities for existing companies, especially those with a global presence
- Broad appeal to prospective companies considering relocation to Gresham
- Increased ability to apply sustainability values to the workplace through teleconferencing/telecommuting opportunities
What It Means For You
If selected for the project, Gresham residences and businesses will have another option for faster internet connectivity. Google Fiber will provide 1 gigabit per second (GBPS) connectivity—more than 100 times faster than options currently available in Gresham.
